The World Needs Old Ladies!

Updated: Dec 7, 2019

Sixty five used to be old, until I got here, so did 70, but it's looking less old as I approach it. How did this happen?! I still feel 16 inside. I used to walk in a room and all eyes would be on me. My looks always got me through doors that were otherwise closed. No one turns their head anymore and that's just fine. It's all good. I plan to make aging, a cool thing.

I love being an Elder. I lived with a 77 year old wise, beautiful, Elder for 6 months recently. They were the funnest, and richest days of my life. Mary Hancock. What a Gal. A woman that teaches me about living with Grace & ease every day. I have never been so consistently happy for no reason. Yes we have sagging necks and deep lines. I think it's beautiful. I earned everyone of those 'character lines'. I understand life and how to live it with steady joy. I was young and beautiful but so what? I was insecure and filled with anxiety, always searching and seeking the next thing I thought would

bring me happiness. For a few years I used botox to fight the aging process. I still color my hair and praise those that let it grow naturally. Let's have these golden years be the best and most rewarding of our life. Let's be an example for our children and grandchildren.

The World Needs Old Lady's, author, Dr. Gladys McGarey was born in 1920. She is one of the most beautiful women I have met. She says in her book that old ladies need to come out of retirement and nursing homes and be seen and heard. They should be revered and their stories must be told. I agree. We are powerful, and wise.

Our country and the world will transform into what we have all imagined, once more women step into political power and it's happenning. Peace on Earth, equanimity, ending wars, is possible. I ask you to tell your stories, own your bodies, and know your power. Let's make aging a great time to look forward to.

We must be respected and revered for we have learned alot through our years of difficult times. We know not to sweat the small stuff. Nothing matters. Stay in the moment. There is nothing else but 'this moment'. There is no getting there. Life is constant and fluid and when we surrender to God's flow, and stop fighting what is, Joy is left. Tell your stories my beautiful Sis*Stars! When I asked Dr. Gladys, "What about old men?" She replied, "I can't answer to that. I have never been a man."

For a few years I used botox to fight the aging process. I still color my hair and praise those that let it grow naturally. Let's have these golden years be the best and most rewarding of our life. Let's be an example for our children and grandchildren. Can we get an Amen?!
